En la noche domingo

I think that means "on Sunday night." It may not ... I feel like the words are "all there already, now we've got to get them in the right order." If anyone besides Taylor recognizes that quote, let me know and I'll be muy impressed.

Good news! No ill affects from the lettuce on my sandwich! You've gotta embrace these kinds of small victories. I also didn't get contract whatever crazy malady was making my Galician friend rub her skin off. So ... win-win-win! Me-me-me! Aaaand there's an even more obscure quote! If anyone outside of my family gets that one, I'll probably mail you 10 Quetzales. Don't get too excited, that's like a buck thirty usd. In fact, it'll probably cost me more to send it than it's worth ...

Last night after talking to Mom on Skype, I left the cafe and the itchy Galician behind, and as I emerged onto el parque central I witnessed quite a sight. A bunch of Guatemalans in suits were carrying a ginormous coffin! They carried around el parque, followed by a huge crowd and a very somber band. Not exactly sure what was going on there. Proximo domingo (next Sunday) I'm going to ask someone what gives.

A few days ago, a little girl and her mother came to our little housing complex to visit her abuela (grandmother). While her mom talked with her grandmother, this little girl came over and harassed me while I was trying to study. Seeing that she couldn't be more than six years old and her mom was a gringo, I thought that this would be a great opportunity to talk to someone who might hablar on my level ... Nope! This little kid was switching between Espanol and English like it was her job! A few sentences into the conversation I had to whip out the old Spanish-English dictionary. I think she sensed how deficient my comprehension was because she was soon speaking in only English and would only speak Spanish when I addressed her in it.

She had a little puppy named Max with her and she scolded me with this little nugget of wisdom, "don't pet Max when he's biting his leg." So ... I didn't come away completely empty-handed.

Nealy! Look what I found! I asked mi maestra (my teacher) about this place after I found it, and she said it's closed and called Rico's or something like that (despite the lingering signage). Gotta be honest Nealy, this place isn't really looking very good ... dark, poorly lit entrance, bad name, two dudes lingering outside ... If you click on the picture you can see that it says "Irish Tavern" over the inner puerta ... I think I'm gonna wait to explore this one till you get here. :)
